Moab Texture and Colour

March 6, 2008

Southern Utah, and the area around Moab in general, feed the senses.  One can almost go into sensory overload after the first ten arches, rock out cropping, crazy ass tree sculpture.  But after the brown of a Canadian winter (interspersed with white that quickly becomes a slushy mess) the colour of Moab is so refreshing.

Of course, red:

Gold:

White and Black:

Pink:

And the Greens, so hard to capture, mixed with silver, yellow, and all the colours in between:

I’m fascinated by the textures, the many layers of the landscape.  The way the colours combine into a subtle whole, that stimulate every sense.  Add the gentle sound of the breeze, the clean scent of the air, the whistling through rocks, the feel of the sun heating the surface.

I’m left with one question; when can I go back again?
